Tales of the riverbank

About this time last year I took a trip to Summerhill Force. There had been a lot of rain and I was expecting the waterfall to be in full flow.

On the walk up to the waterfall I stepped off the path looking out for good compositions. Unfortunately, I slipped and ended up it the water, complete with my camera backpack and tripod.

The water wasn’t very deep and I was able to stand up quickly, but not before both myself and the backpack were soaking wet. Luckily a fellow photographer was on hand to grab my camera gear while I scrambled up the bank to dry land.

I opened the camera bag, expecting it to be full of water but only a small amount had seeped through the seams. I wiped everything off with a microfibre cloth and got on with spending a wet and cold day photographing both Summerhill Force and Low Force.

Fast forward to late November, and whilst at Beck Hole I once again slipped on wet rocks. This time I didn’t fall into the water but my camera and tripod ended up in the water. This time no amount of drying with a microfiber cloth could save the camera, but I did manage to save the CF card.
